Scarlett Johansson to Screen Her Directorial Debut

"The Vagabond Shows," starring Kevin Bacon, is the Scarlett Johansson's directorial debut will premiere as part of the opening night of LA Shorts Fest 2009 on July 23-31 at the Sunset 5 Laemmle Theater in West Hollywood. The festival, which will screen more than 300 films, is recognized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences as a qualifying fest for Oscar consideration.

Opening night will also include Kirsten "Kiwi" Smith's "The Spleenectomy," starring Anna Farris, and Andrei Zvyagintsev's "Apocrypha." While, Johansson and Smith will appear and take part in a Q&A.

In addition, Kunio Kato's "La Maison en Petits Cubes," which won the Oscar for animated short film at the most recent Academy Awards, was named best animated short film at last year's LA Shorts Fest.
