Scarlett Johansson Will Be Only Female 'Avenger'

Scarlett Johansson is not the only female character in the Joss Whedon's upcoming superhero blockbuster movie, "The Avengers," but she is the only female superhero, The Black Widow.

"It is true that the movie is only going to have one female avenger," said Whedon, according to Moviehole. "But she will not be the only female character."

As for the story of the flick, which is also staring Robert Downey Jr, Samuel L.Jackson, Clark Gregg, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner and Mark Ruffalo, Whedon revealed, "It will be a new story that has many things from different arcs of the comics in it. There is no one Avengers story that you can just do the way that you can do the origin of Spider-Man. You really have to cull from the original and The Ultimates, which is one of The Avengers titles."
